Training Fees for 2008

There has been a slight increase in training fees for 2008, this is something unavoidable due to the increase on hall hire.

There is a different price structure to suit every individual students needs

The Hunt Goes on

As many of you guys may know,we are currently looking for a venue to be our gym.

Hopefully in early 2008 we will find the correct venue, I shall keep you all updated on this news

Adam Gets Award

Adam received an award for being the student who has progressed the most this year

2007 has seen Adam really make progression in the club and for his award he received a pair of cool grappling shorts,

Club Insurance for 2008

Club insurance is due for 2008 and is due from January

Renewal prices are £20 for the year and New insurances are £30 (This includes a club T Shirt)

You can download your Insurance form from here, or collect one from lee at training

Carl Makes Debut in MMA at Amadeus

Carl makes his debut on February 24th at Amadeus Night Club in MMA rules, and he is raring to fight

I will post all or any of the other guys names from the gym who will be fighting too

Please show your support and order your tickets, ask for posters to put up and tell your friends and family about the show

Training for a Competition

Anyone who is training for a competition should take this time seriously and put in as much effort as possible during training!

You should try to make all three classes and also go running at least three times a week

Monitor your weight on a weekly basis so to avoid disappointment or dehydration in order to make the fight weight

I am now making it compulsory to have certain items of equipment with you when you do the MMA side of the sport, these are:

Boxing Gloves

Handwraps

Gumshield

Groingaurd

Shin and Instep protectors

I can offer you all the above at discounted club prices or you can purchase elsewhere if you prefer, but they are a neccesity and not having these will only result in yourself being exluded from various drills, and sparring sessions

CLUB COMPETITION

Club Competition

There is a club competition for everyone and this will take place during our normal lesson times

It has started to take place and will not cost you anymore money to participate.

There will be medals for the winners and runner ups and all in all it should be a great experience for all those that attend

There will not be weight classes as such but Lee shall sort guys into divisions to get the best from all fighters!

Below is the table of fights to take place and the winner will be entered in the correct box!

Please check to see your name and then when you are at training please hook up with your opponent and have your bout,

There is no time limit and all submissions are allowed!

Please tell Lee who won the bout straight after a winner was decided and the winners name will be entered into the box

You can then check below to see who has won and lost!

Grading Syllabus added

I have just added a syllabus / grading system to our club, this is introduced so all students will have a sense of achievement and will also have the same amount of basic knowledge at a certain level

As our club does not wear belts I may introduce either coloured T shirts or sew on badges which can then be worn with pride

2 Victories for Medway Submissions

Carl and Lee kellman both fought on Cage Fighters Championship 1 and both won their fights .

firstly lee was up in a mma bout and started the fight with good kicks and strikes, he did take a low blow and shook it off well and came back with a flurry of punches and a high kick causing his opponent to clinch and jump guard, from there Lee punched him with hammer fists busting the guys nose and causing a quick tap out in round 1

Carl Then fought in kage1 rules and had a 3 round battle where nearly every punch he threw was a heavy punch, Carl was caught on more than one occasion with some really solid shot but recovered and then rocked his opponent for the payback

The fight went to the judges and it was a unanimous decision for Carl and rightly so.

Medway Submissions yet again showing our skills and heart and with a great team of fighters and training partners we continue to progress and learn

Carl Applies for The Ultimate Fighter

I have entered Carl in the tryouts for the middleweight division of the famous UF series.

I know Carl may lack the

experience of some other

entries but the UFC will have

to go a long long way to find

another fighter like Carl as so

far as training hunger and the

wanting to fight

I feel Carl would do well in this

and whatever the result he will

be one of the luckiest fighters

around and the knowledge and confidence from training and

fighting at a camp like this would be great for him

Well I will let you all know if the application was successfully and check back guys and girls to see if Carl does qualify for what could be his dream come true

Trip to Randy Couture's gym for 2008

I am thinking of visiting Randy Couture's gym around May, the exact date will be known later as I was hoping to visit Las Vegas when there was a UFC on as well.

Please let me know who is interested and in the meantime I will gather some prices together,

There will be a small non refundable deposit required and then I will set a deadline for the final payment

Medway Submissions

Now you can learn MMA or mixed martial arts on a regular basis and be taught by highly qualified instructors in various disciplines

At medway submissions you can learn all aspects of the fight game from striking on your your feet to the clinch, takedowns, groundwork and submissions plus counters, escapes and reversals and the vital fight strategies which is so important going into competition

You will also use our fight fitness drills and techniques that are unique to our club and the way we train which are devised by fighters for fighters

We have good results with our guys competing from grappling competitions to professional MMA bouts

Many guys who train with us do not fight and we only push those to fight who want to and ask us, then and only then do we push a individual, so you can come and train for whatever reason you want, it may be to get fit or learn a self defense or a combination of various reasons personal to yourself

Basically we train hard and serious but there is a lot of fun and a fantastic atmosphere in the club, everyone helps each other and there are no ego's

New Gym Update

I have found a new building which would be perfect for a new gym, and I have been on the phone today to sort out the planning needed to go ahead with this gym

Hopefully this shall be granted then I will be one step closer to getting a full time MMA gym

PANCRASE SUMMER CAMP 2008 BIARRITZ

The summer camp in southern France is being held on 28th July - 2nd August and the price is €400 which includes training, accommodation and food which is brilliant value for money.

The flights are around £60 so you would be looking at around £360 in total minus any spending money if needed

Try to get along to this and I am sure you would want to return the next year as you get to train with fighters from various countries and the weather is not bad either

No Gi Submission Tournament

I am going to a No-Gi Tournament in March and anyone is more than welcome to enter

There is a novice section and a advanced section so anyone who has been training with us for less than 2 years will enter the novice section

Please ask Lee for all details and pay your entry fee as early as possible

Carl Wins at CFC 2

Carl won his fight on 24th Feb at CFC 2 . He fought a very tough opponent and played his fight game brilliantly, and dished out some punishing strikes on the ground and not really giving his opponent a chance to do very much at all, saying that he was trying very had to escape and counter Carl's moves, but Carl just had a answer to whatever Jay(His opponent) had to offer

This was a very proud moment for myself , Lee Kellman and Chris who were helping to warm him up and corner him too

Also I am sure everyone at our club who attended the show was very proud and you all should be because everyone has practiced the techniques with him or sparred him exchanged thoughts and ideas which all helps to mould Carl into the fighter he is becoming and this clearly showed in the cage

Training at Randy Couture's Camp

Here is the details for the training trip abroad in Las Vegas:

20th May = Fly to Las Vegas

Unlimited training at the camp

24th May = UFC 84

27th May = Return home

The price for this trip is £750 excluding food and spending money, the UFC ticket is included, but is only $100 seats

Flights are included as is hotel and transport to and from the airport here in the UK and in Las Vegas

There will be a total breakdown of the price in our newsletter and Jane is going to try and get us all cheaper flights ( she works for a major airline company)

So you may have a few quid back in change but this is a price to budget for and anything less is a bonus

This excludes medical insurance but can be arranged for you or feel free to pre arrange yourself

There will be a deposit required of £400 non returnable( as I will be paying for the flights) ASAP

The Outstanding amount must be paid in full by 6th May 2008

For many of us this will be a once in a lifetime trip, so I have incorporated it around when the UFC will be on and it looks like there will be some great fights on too

Please try to come on this trip regardless of wanting to be a fighter or not, get your deposit in and your halfway there

The hotel looks clean and tidy and is only like a 2 star but personally I only need to keep secure, get washed and sleep there so as long as it is clean its ok,

For those who want better then just say and get what you need

New Gym Update

Hopefully we shall have our new full time gym open soon and I am just waiting for some news now

Below is our gym logo and we will have a cage, ring, state of the art cardiovascular equipment, bags and sport specific training equipment to help get fit for the sports we train in.

Medway Submissions will be one of the classes available at the gym and my wish is for anyone who wants to me a MMA fighter now can by training at the one gym and this will be our gym
